J.C. Williams: Diary of a Sage Tenant

Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013

It’s about 11:30pm Wednesday night. I came home after working twelve hours. The hallway in my apartment building is still dark. I can’t see anything. I have to hold on to the rail all the way up to my third floor apartment, to work to find the key hole just to get inside of my home. Once inside now I have to cook my food and hope that nothing falls onto the stove from the three holes in my ceiling or the one over my sink. These holes have been there for at least one month. Plus the hole in the wall next to the right side of my stove. On two or three different times I had to come home and clean my hallway, bedrooms, and living room floor behind the work crew.

After being in church all day praising God, I took a walk from one end of the complex to the other end. Not only is my hallway in 6030 Amberwood dark, but I saw two other hallways that were dark with
no lights at all. I went to the rent office on Friday at 9:30am to ask for a work order to handle the light fix before they left on Friday at 5:00pm. The lady at the desk said it would be taken care of I stopped back at 12:30 or 1pm to remind her, after asking me did I come by to pay the rent first, shesaid that she had already put the order in and it would be taken care of, but Sunday night we are still walking up and down a deadly dark three levels of steps and hallway after paying the $670.00 of rent money.

They finally got around to fixing the hallway lights after about a month of walking in the dark. I still have three holes over my stove and one over my sink, and the wall to the right side of my stove have not been filled in as of today. I called the rent office on Monday, October 21st to have a worker order put in so the work would be done. But so far the holes are still there.
